Rise Against Hunger

Personal Message:

Having escaped poverty and its offspring called hunger- I believe that the fight against hunger is paramount. I have escaped poverty and hunger through the assistance of those who had suffered through poverty and hunger and as such I want to participate in the fight against hunger. I believe that if it was not for the assistance of others I would have fallen victim of poverty for longer. I grew up in Orange Farm with unemployed parents and under difficult conditions but as I grew up I always had a dream of escaping those conditions by going to university but I knew it would be difficult given the conditions as home. But through the assistance of other people I managed to go to university until I completed 5 degrees and started the process of building the life I wanted for myself and family. Since then I made a commitment that I will work hard to fight against poverty and hunger. I believe poverty is man made and a solution to it can be found in us working together and making sure that no person goes to sleep without food. I believe that poverty and its offspring called hunger are like Aristotle said a parent of many social ills and push a lot of people into the periphery of life. As a novice runner- I would like to run this comrades and many more to come under the banner of fighting against hunger.
