This year, I am running the Comrades Marathon for the SANParks Honorary Rangers, who work tirelessly to protect South Africa’s wildlife and wild spaces. This is more than a race; it’s a tribute. It’s a tribute to both wildlife and spaces. On my father’s farm, where life was measured in the quiet rhythm of nature, I fell in love with experiencing the bush, I even got engaged under an old Baobab, whose arms still stretches out over the mopani veld. When it comes to animals, I share a deep connection with the stare of the great white ghost of Africa… the Kudu. The Kudu possibly embodies metaphors and attributes of my father and my connection to the bush. My father was a man who understood the land, who believed that true strength lay in protecting the wild, not conquering it. He taught me to respect the silence of the bush, the wisdom in a kudu’s gaze, and the deep responsibility we have to preserve what is sacred. Every step I take is for my father, for the land that shaped me, for the love that was promised under the baobab and for the animals that cannot fight for themselves. I invite you to be part of this journey. Your donation will help safeguard our natural heritage for generations to come. Donate today. Run with me. Protect the wild.
