Rise Against Hunger

Personal Message:

Growing up as a young black child who harbored a deep love for sports amidst a backdrop of poverty, I witnessed firsthand the struggles many of my peers faced with accessing adequate nutrition. The absence of proper nourishment not only hindered our athletic pursuits but also posed significant challenges to our overall well-being. Despite these hardships, my passion for running, particularly road racing, ignited at the age of 15, compelling me to participate in local races. Throughout my journey, I encountered numerous obstacles, including the uncertainty of securing a meal before a race. However, amidst these difficulties, the guidance and mentorship of individuals like Mr. Mnisi proved invaluable. With their support, I began competing in the Comrades Marathon at the age of 18, eventually amassing 19 medals—an achievement I hold dear. Today, as the Club Captain of Bella's Athletics Club, I am driven by a fervent desire to address the issue of hunger in our community. Through various local initiatives, we strive to alleviate poverty and restore dignity to those in need. However, our efforts cannot succeed without the support of compassionate individuals like you. As I prepare to embark on my 20th Comrades Marathon, I am reminded of the countless individuals who continue to endure the burden of hunger. It is my fervent belief that by rallying together, we can make a meaningful difference in their lives. I extend a heartfelt challenge to each of you: join me in the fight against hunger.
