Growing up in Chris Hani squatter camp in Daveyton in the East of Jo'burg, I know what it is like to not have much, I grew up with parents who always kept their heads afloat just to provide and taught us kindness as tough as it was. In this environment I got to experience first hand hardship, seeing other kids growing up in more dire conditions where some of them were faced with the reality of not knowing where their next meal will come from. I am fortunate that I am able to provide for my family now, especially my little girl KAHISANO. I know others are not as fortunate, with the high unemployment rate in our country, this is more of a reality than ever. This is why I want to use my passion for running to give back to those who are not so fortunate and hopefully with this little gesture I can bring some form of hope, positive change, hunger for victory even if it's just to one person's life.
