Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC)

Personal Message:

I was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013. Immediate medical intervention led to the successful removal of the brain tumour. I was lucky to not be exposed to chemo or radiation therapy then, because of early detection. In 2019 however, there was new growth of the tumour in the same area of the brain. Thanks to follow up scans and MRI’s of the brain, and of course early detection, medical professionals were again able to successfully remove tumour growth. Unfortunately, I was left with some minor side effects like permanent Epilepsy and nerve damage. After a tough six weeks’ stint at Vincent Palloti Rehab Centre, 99.9% of my motor functions were restored by medical professionals. Again because of access to top medical intervention and treatment, I was able to live a life of normality. Then in 2021, for a third time, more tumour growth was detected. Again early detection came into play. Unfortunately, I had to undergo chemo therapy to battle the new growth. I received chemo therapy for a full year. At the end of the chemo therapy sessions, MRI’s showed that the therapy did the job and I was in remission! I have now lived with cancer for the last ten years, and I am very fortunate to be alive and in remission. I have the utmost respect and gratitude for all the medical professionals whom I met over the last ten years. And of course the grace of our mighty Lord for giving me a second and third chance to life. Family and friends carried and cared for me. I cannot describe the importance of the support network I am blessed with. The above story of my life with cancer inspired me to support this cause, and my wish is that every child supported by this organisation will be able to experience the support, love and medical attention they deserve to get.
