Personal Message:
Being a nurse, working in a Well Baby Clinic, I experience the joy and happiness of healthy babies and children most of the time. When families are suddenly being confronted with the diagnosis of cancer of a loved one, it is devastating –physically, emotionally and financially. When it is a young child, it is even more so. Our own family was devastated when my dearest husband Stef was diagnosed with Bone Marrow Cancer in 2016. After a very brave fight he sadly passed away on 18 Feb 2023. I joined Run Zone Athletics Club in June 2023 and started my running journey to run in memory of Stef and my 3 brothers, who no longer can run. When entering Comrades, I learned that with my running, I can make a difference in the lives of young families whom are affected by cancer. As a Baby Clinic nurse, CHOC has always been close to my heart and I’ve been supporting the organisation for many years. With my running, I’ve pledge to raise at least R 10 000.00 to support CHOC families and all the brave little warriors. Let us take hands and please help me to make a difference. Together we celebrate, honour and remember every precious life.
